Right now we “see through a glass, darkly.” That is not weakness in the Bible; that is the condition of man waiting for full revelation. The word of God is like a looking glass. It shows us truth, exposes our condition, corrects our thinking, and lets us behold what God wants us to see now.
But there is another picture sitting right beside it. Job speaks of the sky as “a molten looking glass,” and Isaiah says the heavens will one day be rolled together as a scroll. So while the Book reveals God’s words, the firmament declares God’s glory.
Both are witnesses. Both are “glass.” Both show something real, but not yet the full face-to-face unveiling. That is the beauty of the Bible. One verse can carry doctrine, correction, reproof, instruction, prophecy, and future fulfillment without breaking the text.
James gives you the looking glass of the word. Job gives you the looking glass above. Paul says we see darkly now, but then face to face. John shows the day coming when His servants shall see His face.
So the chart is showing two applications running together: the word below and the heavens above.
The Bible is preparing us inwardly, and creation is testifying outwardly. One day the shadows are gone, the veil is removed, the sky is rolled back, and faith becomes sight.
For now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face.
